I Kottaik Kwe!
I have been involved in education since 2006, and teaching full-time since 2017.
I have a Bachelor of Science in Journalism, though I only worked in media once: Six months at a French radio station nearly 30 years ago. Nonetheless, I have used the ability to write well in EVERY job I’ve had ever since, including public relations and marketing. I have spent the last 20+ years in commercial and residential property development and management.
Non-school things I love to do: Photography restoration/storytelling, writing, interacting with ALL kinds of animals, gardening – and choosing my next creative art project. My favorite place to be is outdoors in the mountains, sharing fun and laughter with family and friends. I’ve been married 25 years and have three grown children.
My passion for teaching comes from the fact that my own education (4th-12th) was incomplete and very inadequate in both academic and marketable life skills.
The goal I have for each of my students is to learn things during the year that will help them for a lifetime. I want them to attain practical skills, and have more useful knowledge than I did, no matter what they choose to do as an adult.
It is also my purpose to be an adult whom students can sense really sees and hears them. Every young person has unique thoughts & talents that make them the interesting individual they are. For me, getting to know each student is a tremendous gift– especially as they discover more about themselves, utilize opportunities at hand, and grow toward the adult they choose to be.
B.I.M. stands for “Business Information Management.”
Businesses manage and share their information many different ways, often through emails, documents, spreadsheets and presentations.
While we use a lot of Google products in school (Docs, Sheets & Slides), my job is to teach you the applications predominately used in the real business world, which are the Microsoft programs: Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
I want you to learn them so well that you will be able to earn the Industry Based Certifications for EACH of those applications. Having these certifications will give you an INCREDIBLE edge when you head out to find employment after graduation. In some universities, these certifications are even worth college credits.

Yep. You do.
Typing correctly and quickly is a HUGE part of being able to manage any kind of information, especially now when we use computers for just about everything.
Ideally, you should be able to type with all 10 fingers accurately, as fast as you can think. This is a goal that is easier to attain for some people more than others. While you’re in this BIM class, you will be expected to learn and stretch your typing skills DAILY through a variety of timed tests, lessons & assignments.
By the end of the year, you will be amazed at how fast & more accurate your typing has become, just through regular practice!
